Hello friends! Not so long ago, the Chinese company Xiaomi released the Mi Smart Home product line for a smart home, and today one of them is on the review – Xiaomi Philips Eyecare Smart Lamp 2. The Xiaomi Smart Lamp was created in conjunction with Philips electronics manufacturer and includes a number of interesting and, in my opinion, very unusual innovations in design and functionality. Let’s take a closer look at this hi-tech device.

Packing and equipment:
The lamp arrived in an ordinary large cardboard box, on which the main characteristics of the goods are indicated. Inside it is packed with high quality, so you should not worry about integrity. The kit comes with a manual in Chinese and a lamp power supply. The power supply produces 12 V with a current of 1 A.
Design:
Eyecare Xiaomi Smart Lamp is made in an ultramodern design, it looks restrained and stylish. Thanks to the flexible part of the housing, you can adjust the angle of inclination and rotation of the head with the main light source. The flexible lamp housing must withstand 10,000 folds.
An additional light source is located on the foot at the base. This innovation allows you to illuminate the area around your workspace, thereby reducing the contrast of the lighting of the working area and relieve eye strain.

There are no convex elements on the case – one smooth, smooth line passing into the circular plane of the base, on which the sensor controls and the light sensor are located. It can be seen that Xiaomi is trying to use high-quality, pleasant to the touch materials for its products: the “flexible neck” is coated with food-grade silicone with a soft-touch coating, and the rest of the case is made of plastic that is resistant to UV radiation. Personally, I have nothing to complain about, the lamp was made carefully and thoughtfully, I liked the design very much.
Eye care – what does the manufacturer promise?
Area lighting. For reading, sketching, small work.
Wide-angle lighting provides a large diameter of the illuminated area and complies with GB 50034-2004 standards (average illumination in the range of 90 cm must exceed 300 Lux).
Automatic brightness control for comfortable lighting.
Eyecare Smart Lamp 2 has a built-in sensor that continuously measures light. Based on sensor measurements, the lamp independently changes the brightness, providing the user with healthy and comfortable lighting – this functionality is implemented by the gamma-functional brightness adjustment algorithm, which belongs to Philips.
The brightness change is carried out in accordance with the gamma curve of the comfortable work of the human eye, which allows the eyes to get less tired.
Dual light source
In order for the brightness of the lighting of the working space to be approximately equal to the brightness of the lighting of the adjacent space, an additional light source is used in the design – this feature of the lamp has already been mentioned above.
Design
Panel with touch control buttons. From left to right:
- Turn on / off, activate Wi-Fi network search mode/disconnect from a Wi-Fi network.
- Turn on / off the rear light.
- 4 degrees of brightness (25%, 50%, 75%, 100%).
- Eyecare mode – automatic brightness adjustment.
- Above the buttons is a light sensor.
On the back of the lamp base, there is a Wi-Fi indicator (when the connection is established – blue, without a connection – yellow, in-network search mode – yellow blinking) and a connector for connecting the power supply.
On the back of the base, there are 6 screws hidden behind rubber feet. Unscrew the screws and look at the internal electronics: The control board is screwed with four screws – unscrew to consider in more detail: The smart lamp is controlled by an Atmel microcontroller, which is behind the main one. A weighting agent is hidden inside the base: It was not possible to access the LEDs, but Xiaomi’s cooperation with Philips suggests that they are most likely from Philips. Xiaomi, in turn, provided the functionality and design of the device.
The main light source is 40 LEDs of 0.12 watts each. In an additional 10 LEDs of 0.24 watts each. The declared service life for them is 11 years.

Functionality and Applications
The Xiaomi Smart Lamp can be controlled from devices running Android or iOS.
The main functions of the application:
- on / off (screen 1);
- brightness adjustment of the main light source (screen 1);
- brightness adjustment of an additional light source (screen 2);
- automatic lamp shut down after a set period of time (screen 3);

- minimum brightness at night (screen 5);
- rest for the eyes after 40 minutes of work (screen 5).
Summary
There is no way to check the reliability and durability of the lamp because this is a plus-minute novelty and I personally use it for only 2 weeks. So far, I can’t get enough of it and put a five on a smart device (on a five-point scale :)).
Pros:
- hi-tech design;
- flexible body;
- brightness adjustment;
- remote control for the lazy;
- interesting functions (nightlight, automatic shutdown, Eyecare mode).
Cons:
- I’ll take the price to the minuses.
